The Capital Regional District (CRD) Community Green Map is an online
resource featuring sites and stories that connect and celebrate the
people, places, and projects that make Victoria and the Capital Region
healthy, vibrant, and sustainable. The CRD Community Green Map is managed by the UVic Community Mapping Collaboratory (CMC), a joint
community-university initiative funded by VanCity Credit Union, the CRD,
the City of Victoria, the Office of Campus Planning and Sustainability,
the United Way of Greater Victoria, and a 2013-2015 SSHRCC Partnership
Development Grant awarded to the Collaboratory. On campus the
Collaboratory is supported by the Faculty of Social Sciences and
Department of Geography, the Institute for Studies and Innovation in
Community University Engagement (ISICUE- formerly OCBR) and the UVic Library. The Community Green map is part of the global green map system which has included 86 diverse communities in 65 countries who together share common icons and highlight local sustainability resources on
hundreds of locally-made Green Maps (Greenmap.org).
