Welcome to the Cowichan Valley Community Green Map

Green Maps are an international mapping movement where communities map their home place. These locally created maps show the connections between where we live, the food we grow, the things we do, and the land we live on. What becomes clear is that everything is vitally interconnected.

In 2009 the Cowichan Land Trust created the first green map of the Cowichan Valley. Now we are excited to be giving the web-based green map back to our community.

We invite you to click on the icons to learn about the points featured so far on the map under the categories of Land, Food, and People. We encourage individuals and community groups to continue growing this map by adding your important and precious places onto the Green Map.

Our community Green Map is a member of the International Green Map System (GMS), which is a globally connected, locally adaptable framework for supporting community sustainability. Green Maps use Green Map Icons to chart the sites of environmental significance in urban places around the world.
