Welcome

Welcome to the Coastal Community Mapping Project, currently a work of magic in progress. Our first mapping effort is focused on the Saanich Inlet and Peninsula. We intend to expand our mapping and stewardship outreach to include many other locations on the coast of British Columbia. You can get involved (see below)! Click this link to... Check out the Saanich Peninsula Map! The themes for this map are, on the broadest level:

  • People
  • Land & Sea
  • Flora & Fauna

Within the context of these themes we hope to reveal the wealth of stories from community members that exist within the landscape itself. The desire is twofold: to bring people closer to each other and closer to the natural wonders of the majestic Saanich Inlet and Peninsula. To submit stories, art or ideas, please contact us at coastalcommunitymap@gmail.com. This project is a joint effort of the SeaChange Marine Conservation Society, UVic Community Mapping Centre, the Coastal and Oceans Resources and Analysis Laboratory (CORAL).
