The University of Victoria Community Mapping Initiative (UVic-CMI)

June 2011 Update

The University of Victoria Community Mapping Initiative, with a newly formed steering committee is developing a service and business plan building on the vision document from 2009 coordinated by Charles Burnett (UVic Geography adjunct, and GeoMemes Research Inc.), and John Lutz(Director, UVic’s Office of Community Based Research; UVic History) draft CMI proposal in spring 2011. The Initiative is the key service hub in a broader Common Ground Community Mapping Network and builds on the work of many years of community and green mapping and partnerships, in particular with the worldwide Green Map System.

The Office of Community-Based Research is coordinating development of the UVic-CMI with support from the Faculty of Social Sciences, the Department of Geography and the Library.
